What attributes drive strong CEO reputation? By wide margins, executives who work with highly regarded CEOs, relative to those with lesser regarded CEOs, describe their CEOs as having a clear vision for the company, inspirational and motivational to others, honest and ethical, a good communicator internally, and someone who cares that the company is a good place to work.
They also describe these highly regarded CEOs as having a global business outlook, being a good communicator externally, decisive, and customer-focused.
The last few years of financial crisis, scandals, and looking the other way have raised the bar on ethics and honesty.
More than eight in 10 executives with highly regarded CEOs (86%) also report that they trust their company leader to do the right thing for the company and that their company’s leader emphasizes the importance of ethical conduct throughout the company (84%).
